Grand Ole Opry House hosts Dove Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Gospel music's biggest week ends Thursday night with the 40th Annual Dove Awards.

The Dove Awards will take place at the Grand Ole Opry House and this year, fans will decide who wins the top trophy, "Artist of the Year."

Natalie Grant is up for a total of six awards, including "Best Female Vocalist."

If she wins Thursday night it will mark her third win in a row in the category.

Grant, however, has said she's most proud of being nominated for writing her hit "I Will Not Be Moved."

Chris Tomlin is the only artist with more Dove nominations. He has seven.

Miss California Carrie Prejean is keeping with the Christian theme, introducing a performance by Mercy Me of their hit "I Can Only Imagine" on Thursday night.

Prejean has drawn attention for comments she made against gay marriage at the Miss USA pageant.

During Sunday's pageant in which she was the runner-up, Prejean said in response to a question from celebrity blogger Perez Hilton that she believes "marriage should be between a man and a woman."

The Dove Awards will begin at 7 p.m., at the Grand Ole Opry House.
